In Chemistry 20, students will explore theories about bonding and how they relate to the properties of matter.

Through the use of scientific models, students will develop explanations and descriptions of structure and bonding.

Ionic compounds and molecular substances will be investigated to gain a deeper understanding of the diversity of matter. This unit builds upon Grade 9 Science, Unit B and Science 10, Unit A, and provides a solid foundation for Chemistry 30, Unit A.

This course is in accordance with the Alberta Chemistry - 20 curriculum for Grade 11 students.

Chemistry 30 is divided into four units of study: Thermochemical Changes, Electrochemical Changes, Chemical Changes of Organic Compounds, and Chemical Equilibrium Focusing on Acid-Base Systems.
